Woolwich Sunday Market To Launch In Beresford Square

October 19, 2018

A new Sunday market is about to bring the best independent traders and street food to Woolwich.

From Sunday 21 October, visitors will get to explore over 40 stalls showcasing an eclectic mix of vintage, crafts, jewellery, gifts, arts and other hidden gems.

Food trucks and stalls will be on hand to serve some of the best street food and drinks London has to offer.

The market will run from 9am until 5pm every Sunday for the rest of this year, and shoppers will be entertained by live music, seasonal stalls and a Santa’s grotto leading up to Christmas.

Woolwich Sunday Market is being launched by the Royal Borough of Greenwich in collaboration with Roi Mengelgrein from the award-winning Tooting Market, formerly the manager at Camden Stables Market.

Roi Mengelgrein said: “I want to help regenerate the market with local people and local performers. It is about putting something back into the community, not taking from it – I want to get the best traders in London and do something good for the area.”

Cllr Denise Hyland, Cabinet Member for Economy, Skills and Apprenticeships, said: “In the age of chain stores and internet shopping, street markets offer something unique – they are places to meet, places to eat and places to spend time, as well as places to shop. I’m looking forward to doing all of that at Woolwich Sunday Market.”

Cllr Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, and Integrated Enforcement, said: “Woolwich has a good mix of high street favourites and independent shops all open on a Sunday, with a bustling street market from Monday to Saturday.

“The new stalls will give residents and visitors 40 more reasons to shop, eat and spend time in this great town centre seven days a week.”
