Remembrance Day – Sunday 10 November 2019

During the morning of Sunday 10 November 2019, Remembrance Day Services will be held throughout the Borough.  Listed below are those at which the Council will be represented.

BROMLEY

The Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Nicholas Bennett MA JP and Mrs Ruth Bennett, the Chief Executive, Mr. Ade Adetosoye OBE, and the Representative Deputy Lieutenant will attend the Service in Bromley Parish Church, St Peter and St Paul, Bromley, Church Road, Bromley BR2 0EG.  Those attending the service are asked to arrive by 10.30am.  After the service, the Civic party will proceed to the War Memorial for the wreath laying ceremony.

BECKENHAM WAR MEMORIAL

Councillor Russell Mellor will represent the Borough and will be laying the wreath at this service.  Those attending have been asked to arrive at the Memorial by 10.30am ready for the parade to arrive. At 10.50am the service will begin and wreath laying ceremony will take place at Beckenham War Memorial High Street, Beckenham BR3 1BN.

BICKLEY

The Leader of the Council, Councillor Colin Smith will represent the Borough, read a lesson, lay a wreath and read the exhortation at St. George’s Parish Church, Bickley Park Road, Bickley, BR1 2BE at the 10.30am service.

BIGGIN HILL

Councillor Julian Benington will represent the Borough at the service at St George’s Chapel Main Road, Biggin Hill TN16 3EJ at 10.30am and will be laying a wreath in front of the Gate Guardians.

Councillor Melanie Stevens and Councillor Richard Scoates will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson at the service at St. Mark’s Church, 10 Church Rd, Biggin Hill, Westerham TN16 3LB at 9.30am.

Councillor Melanie Stevens and Councillor Richard Scoates will lay a wreath at the Biggin Hill War Memorial, Main Road, Biggin Hill TN16 3DY at 11.00am.

BROMLEY COMMON & KESTON

Councillor Robert Mcilveen will represent the Borough and lay a wreath at the service at Holy Trinity Church, Church Lane, Bromley Common, BR2 8LB, at 10.00am. Followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial in the churchyard at 10.55am, the service will conclude at 11.10am and will be followed by refreshments.

Councillor David Jefferys will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson at Keston Parish Church, Church Road, Keston, BR2 6HT, at 10.00am, followed by a walk from Keston Village at 10.30am to the War Memorial on Heathfield Road for laying of wreaths.

CHELSFIELD & PRATTS BOTTOM

Councillor Mike Botting will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson at the service at St. Martin of Tours, Church Road, Chelsfield, BR6 7RF, at 10.45am, during which a wreath will be laid.

CRAY VALLEY EAST

Councillor Harry Stranger will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson at St Mary Cray Parish Church, High Street, St. Mary Cray BR5 4NL where the service will begin outside the church at 10.50am, those attending have been asked to arrive at 10.30am.

CRAY VALLEY WEST

Councillor Judith Ellis will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson at the service at St. Barnabas Church, Rushet Road, St. Paul’s Cray, BR5 2PU, at 10.30am.

CHISLEHURST

Councillor Katy Boughey, Councillor Kieran Terry and Councillor Suraj Sharma will all represent the Borough at this service.  Councillor Kieran Terry will lay a wreath and Councillor Katy Boughey will read a lesson. The service will be at St. Nicholas Church, Manor Park Way, Chislehurst, BR7 5PZ, at 9.30am, followed by the Act of Remembrance at the Chislehurst War Memorial at 10.50am.

FARNBOROUGH & CROFTON

Councillor Robert Evans will read the lesson and lay the wreath on behalf of the Borough.  The Act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial at 10.45am, followed by the Annual Service of Remembrance in St. Giles the Abbot Church Road, Farnborough Village, BR6 7DB at 11.15am

Councillor Charles Joel will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson at                  St. Paul’s Church, Crofton Road, BR6 8JE, at 10.15am.

HAYES & CONEY HALL

Councillor Peter Fortune will represent the Borough, read a lesson and lay a wreath at St. Mary the Virgin, Hayes Street, Hayes, BR2 7LH, at 10.30am followed by a short ceremony at the War Memorial in the church grounds.

MOTTINGHAM & CHISLEHURST NORTH

Councillor Will Rowlands will represent the Borough at the service at Mottingham War Memorial which commences at 10.50am followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial, those attending have been asked to arrive at 10.40am

Councillor David Cartwright will represent the Borough, assist with the Prayers and lay a wreath at St. Edward’s Church, 35 Keverne Road, Mottingham, London SE9 4AQ at 10.30am.

ORPINGTON

The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s Consort, Councillor Kira Gabbert and Mr Victor Yuzhaninov and Deputy Lieutenant Michael Messinger LVO QPM DL will attend this Service.  There will be a wreath laying ceremony and a reading at Orpington War Memorial at 10.45am, followed by a Service at All Saints Parish Church, Bark Hart Road, Orpington, BR6 0QD, at 11.45am, where Councillor Gabbert will perform a second reading.  Afterwards there will be a further wreath laying ceremony at Canadian Corner.

PENGE & CATOR

Councillor Kevin Brooks will represent the Borough and read a lesson at the service at                  St John’s Church, Penge, SE20 7EQ, at 10.00am followed by a wreath laying ceremony and service at the Memorial opposite the Church at 10.50am.

Councillor Simon Jeal will represent the Borough at Holy Trinity Church, 66 Lennard Road, Penge, SE20 7LX. The service will commence at 10.30am followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial.

Councillor Kathy Bance MBE will represent the Borough at the wreath laying ceremony, at the Kent House Penge War Memorial, Beckenham and Penge Sea Cadets, 209 Kent House Road, which commences at 12.30pm.

PETTS WOOD & KNOLL

Councillor Tony Owen will represent the Borough, lay a wreath and read a lesson.  There will be a service at Christ Church (URC) Tudor Way, Petts Wood, Kent BR5 1LH, at 10.00am. This will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Petts Wood Garden of Remembrance, which is expected to take place at approximately 11.00 am.

PLAISTOW & SUNDRIDGE

Councillor Michael Turner will represent and lay a wreath on behalf of the Borough at St. Andrew’s Church, 136 Burnt Ash Lane, BR1 5AF, at 10.00am.

Councillor Peter Morgan will represent and lay a wreath on behalf of the Borough at St. John’s the Evangelist Church, Park Road, Bromley, BR1 3HJ, at 9.45am.

SHORTLANDS

Councillor Mary Cooke will represent the Borough and lay a wreath at St. Marys, Shortlands. There will be a service at St. Mary’s Church, 39 Kingswood Road, BR2 0HG, at 10.00am

WEST WICKHAM

Councillor Hannah Gray will lay a wreath and read a poem on behalf of the Borough.  The wreath laying ceremony will take place at West Wickham War Memorial 10:45am. Those attending have been asked to arrive at the Memorial by 10.30am.

UPPER NORWOOD – CRYSTAL PALACE

Councillor Marina Ahmad will represent the Borough at the wreath laying ceremony at The Upper Norwood War Memorial, Westow Street, Crystal Palace SE19 3RW at 10.30am.
