The Royal Borough of Greenwich has been shortlisted for the Small Business Friendly Borough Awards in the Best Programme to Reduce Impact of Crime on Small Businesses category.
The Council has been recognised for its work with businesses to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in town centres through a number of initiatives focused on reducing street drinking, combatting litter, preventing knives from being sold to children, improving real time monitoring of incidents between shops and crime prevention campaigns.
Cllr Denise Hyland, Cabinet Member for Economy, Skills and Apprenticeships, said: “A thriving business community is essential for Greenwich’s growth and development. Anti-social behaviour such as street drinking, drug dealing and vandalism is a blight on local high streets and that’s why we’re tackling it so that small businesses can flourish.”
The Small Business Friendly Borough Awards are run by the London Region of the Federation of Small Businesses and London Councils and are open to all 32 London boroughs. Winners will be announced on Monday 20 May.
