GCDA November Courses: Places Available

Chamber Member GCDA has a number of training courses planned for this November:

1. Business Start-up training: from the 1st November: an 8-week course (7 weeks of learning and a one-to-one session with the tutor) in the Eltham Centre:

“An excellent opportunity to pursue your business idea, covering a variety of topics to develop skills and confidence and get you started.

You will learn about and complete feasibility studies and test the market and your business idea.

How to test yourself and undertake a personal assessment.

Understand which legal structure suits you and how to access different types of funding.

How to create a budget and manage your businesses finance.

How to promote yourself including social media.”

2. IT Skills for Business – training: from the 9th November: a 6-week course in the Eltham Centre:

“Learn about the range of IT facilities useful for businesses.

Develop skills to keep an eye on your business finance.

Understand the value of social media in delivering and growing your business identity

Running your own business can be daunting. There is so much to think about, and having sufficient IT skills is absolutely crucial to be able to run a successful business. This 6-week course will give you an excellent grounding in these essential skills. We will cover Excel and how to use it to manage your finances; social media and how to use it to maximise your business potential, online tools and apps that will help you run a more successful business, data protections and privacy rules.”

3. CIEH Accredited Foundation Food Safety course on the 22nd November in the Eltham Centre:

“Who is this course for?

Food handlers preparing or cooking food for consumers

Anyone wishing to refresh previously learned skills and knowledge

Businesses looking to provide staff development to food employees

Self-employed, food-based small business owners

Course overview

This course reinforces the importance of food safety and provides learners with an understanding of how to identify and control food safety hazards in their own workplace.

4. Catering Knife Skills training (3 weeks): from the 26th November at the GCDA:

“Our knife skills training will give you valuable tips and pointers on chopping techniques to make your job in the kitchen easier! Join us for this 3-week course to learn how to slice, dice and more. We’ll also look at how to sharpen a knife, and the different knives that you may (or may not!) need. You will observe a professional chef and then have a chance to practice yourself. We will make a delicious meal and eat all together at the end of the session.”
