The world’s largest annual architecture festival, Open House London, takes place this weekend (21 and 22 September), giving visitors free access to over 800 buildings, walks, talks and tours.
In Royal Greenwich, 20 buildings and architectural sites across the borough will be open to the public over the weekend. These range from well-known landmarks such as the Old Royal Naval College and Charlton House to private houses, schools and other buildings that are not normally open for visitors.
Architectural gems taking part in the festival also include Severndroog Castle – a tall Georgian triangular tower with a romantic story and a 360° view over London, Greenwich Yacht Club – a contemporary wooden and aluminium structure built on the river in 2000 by Frankl + Luty, and Devonport Mausoleum – resting place to famous naval figures – among many more.
All entry is free and some of the locations will be offering tours throughout the weekend. Some of the buildings and tours require pre-booking so do check in advance.
