Ade Adetosoye OBE was appointed Bromley’s interim Chief Executive at Full Council on 10 December following the resignation of Doug Patterson who was Chief Executive for 11 years.
Ade Adetosoye joined Bromley Council in September 2016 with an impressive track record in children’s services and a particular emphasis on outstanding safeguarding. As Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director of Education, Care and Health, he has been instrumental in transforming children’s services in Bromley, as well as having managerial oversight for Housing, Education, Public Health and Adult Social Care, Programmes and Performance.
In his new interim Chief Executive role, Ade will lead the council’s transformation programme to steer the future direction and culture of the council as the organisation faces the challenges of a future with fewer resources.
Council Leader, Councillor Colin Smith said: “Doug Patterson has been an absolutely outstanding Chief Executive for Bromley, we are obviously very sad to see him go and he leaves us with our sincerest thanks for a job very well done over many years and with our fondest wishes for a long, happy and healthy retirement.
“But as one door closes, another opens and now looking to the future, we are delighted to welcome Mr Adetosoye to the post and congratulate him warmly for his well-deserved promotion to acting Chief Executive of the council.
“Mr Adetosoye has performed a remarkable job in steering the borough’s children’s services to new highs over the past two years and is now tasked with delivering the necessary transformational changes across all council services to ensure the provision of ongoing quality services at the best possible value for money for Bromley residents, over the very difficult years that lay ahead due to the further signposted cuts to councils’ budgets by central government.”
