Bexley’s Host and Support Scheme Open Event – Tuesday 28 January

January 10, 2020
Could you help a young person gain the skills they need for an independent adult life? Bexley’s Host and Support Scheme is looking for people who can do just that.

If you think this is you come along to our special open information event on Tuesday 28 January from 6pm to 8pm at Civic Offices, Bexleyheath.

The Host and Support Scheme is looking for people to provide a young person between 16 and 21 with a room of their own in a home where they are a member of the household, but are not expected to become a member of the family.

The householder, host or provider, must offer a safe and supportive environment for the young person, working alongside professional services.

People who are part of the Bexley Host and Support Scheme receive training and competitive pay. They also have around the clock support from a member of the social work team and are part of a network of scheme members.

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services Councillor Philip Read said; “The young people on this scheme are about to leave our care and are looking for somewhere they can get the help they need to move on to adulthood. If you have a spare room, feel that you have the compassion, patience and knowledge to become part of the scheme, then please come along on 28 January or get in touch with the team. If this isn’t you – but you know someone who would fit the bill – please pass this on. Our young people need you.”

To find out more about the event or the scheme please email hostandsupport@bexley.gov.uk or call 020 3045 4400.

If you are interested in coming along on 28 January please let us know or just pop along.
