“Bridge provides a clear, proven pathway for people with long term mental health problems, to progress towards living a more fulfilling role within the community. Our aim is simple; we help our clients along a path that leads to them enjoying the same freedom, opportunities and everyday pleasures that most people take for granted.
A charitable organisation, based in South London, Bridge has grown steadily over 30 years and is now the largest provider of mental health and wellbeing services to residents in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We were originally founded to ‘bridge’ the huge gap in support between psychiatric hospital and community integration. With community care now very much the preferred option we offer a full range of services from supported accommodation, visiting support, support to ex-offenders and a Recovery College based at 23 Anglesea Road in Woolwich. The College provides courses designed to help people help themselves and to achieve improved recovery through learning. Bridge have recently formed a social enterprise called STIR, a café that provides a safe space for Recovery College students at 23 Anglesea Road, Woolwich, as well as a healthier food and drink alternative to the residents and visitors to the Royal Borough of Greenwich. All profits go directly to the Recovery College. Bridge have also developed a new training product in Mental Health First Aid called Mental Health First Aid For You. This will enable more people to be trained in how to spot the signs of mental illness as well as having greater knowledge in how to be of practical help.”
