A new farmers’ market, which focuses on quality, artisan food produced in the Royal Borough of Greenwich is being launched on Saturday 11 July at 10am at Berkeley Homes’ Royal Arsenal Riverside development in Woolwich.  Stalls will be set up amid historic buildings, which were once part of Britain’s largest munitions factories on the banks of the River Thames.

The new market is being launched to coincide with an all-day Summer Feast in nearby General Gordon Square, Woolwich, part of the Good Food in Greenwich initiative, to promote and celebrate local, healthy, sustainable food.

A variety of stalls, selling quality local produce including meat, cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as homemade bread and preserves, have been handpicked by organisers James Yeomans and Emma Wheatley, owners of the independent Hop Stuff Brewery, one of the commercial tenants based at the Berkeley development.  Hop Stuff, which can produce up to 240 casks per week and are currently stocked in outlets across London, will have a stall at the market and is looking forward to spearheading this inaugural event.

It will be a great day out for families and foodies, traders confirmed for the first event include Drings Butchers, The Very Green Greengrocer, The Honest Loaf, Wildes Cheese, Season Etc, L’Atypique Wines, and Casa Grande Pasta.

The new market also complements the recent announcement by the Royal Borough of Greenwich for a Cultural Quarter at Royal Arsenal Riverside in which a number of high-quality, innovative arts and cultural organisations will be taking up space at the development.

The farmers’ market will launch on Saturday 11 July 2015 and will then be held on the second Saturday of each month, 10am – 3pm.  It will be held along No. 1 Street in Berkeley’s Royal Arsenal Riverside development in Woolwich, SE18.
