Better Together Is Back

The Royal Borough of Greenwich’s Better Together meetings are back starting on 9 October in Greenwich with a focus on ‘Greener Greenwich’ and how we’re delivering cleaner air and a greener environment.

This group of Better Together sessions give participants an opportunity to get involved in influencing decisions about their local area whilst meeting key people from the Council including Cabinet members and Council staff.
Meetings will begin with a surgery giving residents the chance to talk about a specific issue affecting them and will be followed by an overview of Greener Greenwich projects ranging from recycling and road schemes to better transport and tackling pollution.

All meetings will also include group discussions on the Mayor of London’s new draft Environment strategy and its far-reaching proposals. The draft strategy details policies which will affect all Londoners living in the Capital for years to come. We want to make sure the views of Royal Greenwich residents are heard in our response and encourage everyone to take an active part in these discussions.

The three parts to each Better Together session are:

6.30 - 7.15pm
Extended 45 minute service surgeries - discuss issues affecting you

7.15 - 7.45pm
Introduction to a Greener Greenwich strategy - presentation with Q&As (time allocated)

7.45 - 8.30pm
Mayor of London’s new draft Environment Strategy - group discussions
The Better Together meetings dates are:

•       Blackheath and Greenwich - Monday 9 October
•       Eltham and Shooters Hill -  Monday 23 October
•       Charlton and Woolwich - Wednesday 25 October
•       Abbey Wood Plumstead and Thamesmead – Monday 30 October

The first Better Together meeting will be held at The Greenwich Centre on 9 October from 6.30pm to 8.45pm.
Councillor Denise Hyland, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said:

“Listening and responding to the views of residents goes right to the very heart of the Royal Borough’s ethos. I encourage residents to help us shape of the future of Royal Greenwich by coming to our next Better Together meetings where we will be discussing how we can deliver a greener Greenwich for the whole borough.”

Residents are welcome to attend any meeting but we encourage them to attend the one for the ward where they live.
