Get outdoors and explore Bexley
This week sees the launch of Bexley’s summer campaign #explorebexley designed to get as many people as possible from across the borough into the great outdoors.
The London Borough of Bexley wants to see local people and visitors of all ages enjoying their local parks or open spaces and will be encouraging participation on its social media channels throughout summer.
Starting from the 14 July 2017 Facebook, Twitter and Instagram followers will begin to see outdoor tips and fun facts about Bexley’s parks, information about events, photographs and videos.
Residents will also be encouraged to get involved themselves, by sharing their own photos and videos of their days out in the borough on social media using #explorebexley.
Cllr Peter Craske, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Environment and Leisure, visited many of the borough’s cultural sites and green spaces as part of a challenge earlier this month (7 July). He said:
“We’re often too busy to get outside as much as we’d like to. Now summer is upon us with longer days and the schools breaking up next week, it’s the perfect time to enjoy and explore the great outdoors in our fantastic borough.
“There is abundance of parks, green spaces, cultural sites and even some hidden gems for you to find and explore across the borough. Plus, getting out in the fresh air helps you to keep fit and active, meet new people and it’s good for your well-being and Vitamin D levels.
“Get involved on social media by sharing your days out at your local park or open space – and help us keep them as clean and tidy as possible too!”
The campaign’s launch coincides with environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy’s #LoveParks Week, which Bexley is also supporting.
Later this month, the highly anticipated brand new Belvedere Beach will be celebrating its grand opening on Thursday 27 July. The new playground will be open all year round and offer a range of fully inclusive equipment, including sensory and educational play areas, plus interactive water play areas.
