Bromley Business

Dear colleague

In Spring 2017 the Government announced it would make available £300 million nationwide over the next 4 years from 2017/18 to support businesses with the steepest increases in Business Rates as a result of the Government’s 2017 revaluation. Funding will be allocated to local authorities in proportion to the number of the most severely affected properties within their areas. Government are advising that individual Councils then need to design a discretionary relief scheme suitable for their area.

Bromley Council has now published details of its own proposed scheme to support local businesses particularly affected by the business rate rise, and is seeking views from local businesses and other stakeholders about the scheme.

You can view details of the proposed scheme and comment via this link

Please do take the time to share your views about the proposed scheme using the short questionnaire which is accessible via the above link, which will be very much appreciated.

In order to provide the relief to where it is needed as soon as possible, the Council hopes to make a final decision on the scheme as early as July.  In order to assist with this timescale and ensure your views are heard, please provide your response via the above questionnaire by 30 June 2017.

If you have any questions about the scheme or the consultation please email:

Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to this important consultation.
