Review of polling arrangements
Bexley’s residents are being asked to have their say as part of a review of polling arrangements in the borough.
By law, local authorities must review their polling districts, polling places and polling stations at least every four years. The last review took place in 2014.
Following the review of the London Borough of Bexley’s electoral arrangements carried out by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England earlier this year, the number of wards in the borough is to reduce from 21 to 17 from 3 May 2018, the date of next year’s local elections. The change means that the Electoral Registration Officer must carry out a further review.
The review will take place between 7 August and 4 September 2017 and will ask for comments on the suitability of current polling stations and for ideas about possible alternatives. A short questionnaire is available on the website at www.bexley.gov.uk/consultations for people who would like to take part.
The Council will also seek comments from people and organisations that have particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for people who have different forms of disability. The borough’s MPs, local political parties, voluntary and community groups and Councillors will also be consulted.

The Council will consider the outcome of the review and the consultation later in the year.
