London Borough of Bexley News Release

Bexley's work to provide valuable apprentices for young people was recognised this week when the Council was named ‘Employer of the Year’ (Bexley Campus) by London South East College (LSEC).

The award was presented at a ceremony hosted by Michelle Dewberry the former winner of BBC's 'The Apprentice' and Sky News Presenter, at Rose Bruford College, Sidcup.

Bexley was nominated by LSEC’s Business Advisor, Julie Hollman. Julie said in her nomination: “Bexley nurtures and develops their apprentices. They progress their apprentices up to higher levels and look for opportunities to promote them into employment or secondments in the organisation. Bexley use their apprenticeship scheme as a good way to create opportunities for local people and enable them to grow and reach their potential and fill skills gaps in the organisation.”

Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr John Fuller said: “This is great news for Bexley’s apprenticeship scheme and the accolade is well deserved. We are always looking to develop new directions for the young people that join us and work hard to cultivate local young talent. I’m really pleased for the team and thank LSEC for their recognition.”
