To mark the opening of Erith Lighthouse at Riverside Gardens on 10 August, organisers are inviting residents to a free special celebration garden party.

The garden party will start at 6.30pm and those attending can expect summery sounds from local musicians Phase 5 Steelband and Captain H and the Hi-Tones. Guests will also be invited to join in some classic garden games. Beers from local business, the Bexley Brewery, will be available and the Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency will be providing food at the Erith Lighthouse Café.

The event at the extraordinary riverside ‘pop up’ structure is free, but spaces are limited and must be booked in advance at

Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, Cllr Linda Bailey said; “What a great way to start the fantastic series of summer events at the Erith Lighthouse! From walks to fine dining, arts, crafts to afternoon tea, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the Lighthouse and in such a great setting, right by the river. It is the perfect way to shine a light on part of the borough that has such fantastic untapped potential. I encourage local residents to go online and book their space for the Garden Party and come and celebrate the arrival of the Lighthouse.”

The Erith Lighthouse will be hosting a programme of special dinners and events to explore and celebrate Erith’s unique riverside London setting. It will be at Riverside Gardens from 10–27 August and then at Erith Pier from 7-24 September. Throughout the summer, 17 chefs will host 17 dinners, creating distinct menus inspired by Erith’s unique riverside location. Numbers are limited and dining must be booked in advance at
