Countryside And London Borough Of Bromley Complete Development Agreement For Churchill Quarter

Following its selection as the London Borough of Bromley’s preferred development partner earlier this year, Countryside is delighted to announce that a development agreement has been completed between the two parties.

The signing of the development agreement is an important step and will enable Countryside to progress the plans, whilst actively responding to feedback received during first stage of public consultation in July.

The plans have evolved in direct response to comments received from local residents, with the layout and scale of proposals revised to enhance the relationship with the public open space. In addition, the name of the proposed scheme has now been changed to Churchill Quarter.

Countryside is continuing to work closely with the Council and will be holding a second stage of consultation in November to show how the plans have progressed and will ensure the community is kept updated.

Andy Fancy, Managing Director at Countryside Partnerships South, commented:

The completion of the development agreement marks another key milestone in the process.

During the initial consultation, it was highlighted that the name of the scheme had created some misunderstanding locally, particularly in relation to Church House Gardens. Taking this into consideration, we have decided to take this opportunity to revise the name of the scheme to Churchill Quarter.

We are planning to hold further public consultation events in November to showcase how the plans have developed in response to residents’ feedback - keeping the community updated is crucial to the development’s success.

Councillor Peter Morgan, Executive Councillor for Renewal and Recreation, commented:

This is a key site in the heart of Bromley’s town centre which will deliver much needed housing, community and commercial space, as well as opening up access to and protecting this beautiful park. These are all important aspects of this important proposal as well as high quality architecture.

I would encourage residents to respond to the next phase of consultation as the scheme moves forward to an ultimately successful outcome.
