Clearing services at the University of Greenwich.
Clearing was the perfect solution for Jade Sodipo, a student who was determined to pursue her ambition to become a lawyer but narrowly missed out on a place at her first-choice university.
Jade applied to Greenwich through Clearing and gained an undergraduate place. She earned a 2:1 Law degree and is currently studying for a Master’s level LLM International and Commercial Law, in the university’s Faculty of Architecture, Computing & Humanities.
Now Jade, who lives in Thamesmead, is part of the expert team encouraging more potential students to take advantage of the top advice and Clearing services at the University of Greenwich.
These services include signing up for Priority Clearing, which puts potential applicants at the front of the queue when they get their examination results. Trained advisers are just a phone call away to give personalised suggestions on the best courses to match students’ grades and career ambitions.
Furthermore, course seekers can ask questions online via the popular LiveChat service.
“Greenwich has been really inspiring and motivating,” says Jade, 22, who joined the university’s School of Law from Christ The King: St Mary’s Sixth Form College, Sidcup.
“There are so many dedicated students and lecturers helping people to establish their future careers and build confidence in themselves.
“My law degree, and now my Master’s, has strengthened my ambition to build a successful legal career. I am aiming to be a professional lawyer by the time I am 30 and well on my way to higher achievements.”
During her studies, Jade has taken advantage of networking opportunities, careers advice, legal work placements and volunteering, all of which are on offer for all Greenwich’s School of Law students.
She adds: “From the beginning of their course, students are helped to realise that employers really value a good CV filled with high quality experiences. They want to see volunteering in your field to demonstrate your commitment, alongside work placements and good academic grades.
“Without the variety of placements and volunteering opportunities offered to me by the university, my CV would be a bit more empty!”
