Bexley Broadway improvements
Work to improve the western part of the Broadway (A207), from Church Road to Devonshire Road began on 24 August 2015.
The improvements will follow the same design as those which have already transformed the Broadway from the Police Station to Trinity Place.
Lion Road will be closed with diversions in place until the end of September, while the Lion Road/Broadway/West Street junction is redesigned. Temporary traffic lights will also be in place on the Broadway between Church Road and West Street, from 9.30am to 3.30pm (off-peak hours), while the main carriageway and footpaths are upgraded.
Pedestrian access to businesses and residents will be maintained. Businesses in the area will be open as usual.
In early October work will begin on the main carriageway and footpaths at the junction of Broadway and Devonshire Road. Devonshire Road will be closed from early October until November with diversions in place. Temporary traffic lights will also be in operation on the Broadway between Church Road and Devonshire Road during this period at off-peak hours only.
All improvement work will be suspended during the busy Christmas period from the 15 November to 10 January 2016. The work, which will be fully funded by Transport for London, is the second phase of the award-winning Bexleyheath Town Centre Revitalisation Scheme and is due to be completed by the end of March 2016.
